Google to Turn Your Wallet into an E-Wallet

Your shopping sprees may have just got hassle-free, with Google. Google Inc. has in a bid to provide better shopping experiences tied up with MasterCard and Citigroup.

Those with subscriptions to this application on their phones will be able to make their payments by just waving their phone in front of the electronic readers. This application is developed for consumers who own a Citibank credit/debit card. Available only on the Nexus S for now; this application will be integrated on all Android phones in the future.

Google has been actively involving itself in promoting advertising on its huge platform, and this application is just a step into that direction. Although Google will not receive any forwards of the transactions, it will probably have a strong advertising revenue base. With phones literally turning into electronic wallets, your shopping could also get you some cool discounts. The whole venture also involves VeriFone Systems that would manufacture these credit card readers that would facilitate the whole payment process.

Still in its development stages, Google’s move into the shopping sphere, if successful, will establish it in yet another sphere of business.
